''Without question, CEREC has changed my practice''

There are few things in dentistry that come along and truly change that dimension of one's dental practice. From my experience, Sirona's CEREC technology has not only improved the quality of dental care that I am able to provide, but has added personal satisfaction and profitability as well.

I was always one of the "neigh-sayers" when it came to discussing CEREC with my Patterson representative. I cited the common misconceptions such as cost, faulty margins, poor colour matching, etc. that you hear most commonly from people that don't understand the technology completely. I wasn't until I sat down with a completely open mind and listened to Dr Mark Morin talk about this technology did I fully see the benefit of adding this wonderful treatment alternative to my practice [...].

From my perspective, through what I've learned and my experience in 9 months having placed in excess of 500 restorations there is no better material to place in teeth in terms of esthetics, form and function than Vita Mark II and only through CEREC technology is that possible in one visit in literally one hour. Without question, CEREC has changed my practice and has lowered stress for myself, challenged me as a technical dentist and improved the quality of dentistry I am able to offer my patients. It is with all this that I may highly recommend CEREC to any dentist that is committed to education, quality and doing what's best for our patients.

''I was amazed that digital X-rays use as little as one-tenth the amount of radiation of older conventional X-rays''

I have been practicing dentistry for nearly twenty years and only recently set up a dental office in Brampton. With the new technological advances in dentistry, I knew I had to consider the incorporation of digital radiographs as so many of my colleagues have been boasting about in their offices.

After considerable research, I decided to let Patterson Dental educate, install, train and maintain my office in Brampton in the use of digital X-rays. I have been avoiding computers like the plague and was impressed by Patterson. Their team, consisting of Les Smith, Mike Kavanagh, John Dow, Gerry Crandles and Branch Manager Michael Comartin, helped me set up and educate me and my staff.

I was amazed that digital X-rays use as little as one-tenth the amount of radiation of older conventional X-rays. I could not believe that the image was clearer and provided me with more information that was not available before, not to mention the speed they are ready to be viewed. We have now incorporated a digital panoramic X-ray machine. Although there was a larger expense in the set up compared to conventional X-rays, I have within 12 months paid for the digital panoramic X-ray machine and two intraoral stations.

I have been so impressed with Patterson Dental that I have used them exclusively in the set up of the Urban Dental Centre. They have amazing support and advice. They have helped me establish the most technologically advanced dental office that I could dream of. We use CEREC, Digital Radiographs, Lasers and Microscopes. I always sleep easy at night knowing that Patterson is there to back me up, whatever it takes

Working as a dentist, is already a difficult task but having to be able to diagnose poor quality X-rays makes it almost impossible. With the digital or numeric systems you always have great quality X-rays, with predictability and consistency. I found that it brought excitement within the staff, and a great source of new patient referral. Our patients refer to us as a high-tech office, which is highly marketable.

The biggest question we asked ourselves, was, it is worth the investment, will it pay itself off, and be difficult to integrate with a staff of 25 employees? The first two answers came very quickly with the quality of the products and simplicity of use.

As for the later, the Patterson post-sale service was instrumental in making it a very successful and sound financial and professional investment. The real question should have been, “Why did we not make the leap sooner.
